Day 1: We start the road trip in Bordeaux

Start this road trip with a visit to the city of Bordeaux,inscribed since 2007 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You will discover a mixture of classical and neoclassical architecture with a great cultural wealth. After collecting your campervan at the Blacksheep Bordeaux agency, head to the Grand Théâtre. Let yourself be seduced by the impressive building and its neo-classical architecture. Then continue on the Place de la Bourse, with its two symmetrical pavilions (Palais de la Bourse and the Customs Hotel), and the famous water mirror. Find the reflection of the facades of the buildings in the water, it is undoubtedly the most photographed point of view of Bordeaux ... Then, head to Pey-Berland Square, where you can admire St. Andrew's Cathedral but especially climb the Pey-Berland Tower to have a panoramic view of the city.
You can not visit Bordeaux without tasting the famous Bordeaux flutes, sweet specialty with rum and vanilla!

Day 2: Biscarrosse and Dune du Pilat

Second day of road trip from Bordeaux,direction Biscarrosse, leave your van and take the bike to circulate and walk. For example, follow the Discovery of the Three Lakes circuit or the Vélodyssée route.
It is also an opportunity to do water activities on the lakes of Biscarrosse: windsurfing, catamaran, kite-surfing, paddle!
For an outdoor walk, you can go to the largest forest in Europe: the Landes forest.

In the afternoon, change of scenery guaranteed with the Dune du Pilat,the highest in Europe. You will have a breathtaking view of the ocean and theBassin d'Arcachon. 110m high, the challenge is to climb it, but the top will quickly make you forget the effort made! You can park in the car park at the foot of the dune and there are several accesses to climb up to the top.

Day 3: Arcachon

For this last day of road trip from Bordeaux,start the day with a visit to Île aux Oiseaux. Take a boat tour of about 2 hours to discover the famous huts, oyster parks, fishermen's houses.
Then go for a stroll in Arcachon. The peculiarity of the city lies in its neighborhoods bearing the name of the four seasons. In the winter city you will find the chic district of the city with the many arcachon villas with original architectures. Located high up, you can stop at the Sainte-Cécile observatory to admire a panoramic view of theArcachonbasin.
The summer city includes the city center, with the beaches, the two jetties (Thiers and Eyrac), the Basilica of Notre-Dame and the Chapel of the Sailors. You can eat at the Place des Marquises located next to the halls where you will find oysters and other local products.
The autumn town is known for its fishing and oyster farming port. You will also find the fishermen's quarter and picturesque houses.

Day 3: Andernos-les-Bains and Cap Ferret

On the edge of theArcachonbasin, the seaside resort of Andernos-Les-Bains is a must in the region. You can walk along the pier, the longest in France. Then head to the oyster port with the colorful houses. Take the opportunity to enjoy a platter of seafood and oysters. Nearby there is also the Church of Saint-Eloi, with friezes and murals dating from the eleventh century. Continue your visit with the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa dating from the fourth century.
Finish with a natural site: Quinconces, where you can admire a panoramic view of the Basin.

Cap ferret

Then, direction Cap Ferret. Discover the Mimbeau beach from where you can admire the lighthouse and the pool. Continue to the lighthouse of Cap Ferret,the only lighthouse of the Bassin d'Arcachon. To admire the magnificent view, you will have to climb the 258 steps to more than 50m high. The reward? A breathtaking view of the oyster park, the Bird Island, the Dune du Pilat and the ocean ... Finish with the tip of Cap Ferret to enjoy the sunset!

Gironde estuary

Day 5: Gironde Estuary

The Gironde estuary is the largest in Europe. It is full of points of interest where you can stop:
- the Lighthouse of Cordoba, the oldest lighthouse in Europe (1611)
- the citadel of Blaye, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- the vineyards of Blaye and Bourg
- the estuarian islands with Patiras, Bouchaud, Cazeau, Macau...
- Talmont-Sur-Gironde, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. This village is known for its architecture. Ideally located on a cliff, you will have a breathtaking view of the surroundings.
- the Cliffs of Meschers-sur-Gironde, you can discover the troglodyte caves of Meschers, dug into the limestone cliffs.
- the many ports such as those of Goulée in Valeyrac, Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc, the old port in Verdon-sur-Mer, the port of Talais.
End the day with a beautiful sunset over the Gironde estuary!

Day 6: Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Margaux, Abbaye de la Sauve-Majeure

Penultimate day of this road trip from Bordeaux,on the program today: the visit of Château Mouton Rothschild, very famous area of the Médoc. It produces one of the most prestigious Bordeaux wines. In addition to the vineyards, you can also visit the castle, the Grand Chai as well as the museum of wine in art and make a tasting.
Keep up the momentum with Château Margaux, which is also classified as "premier grand cru". The castle was classified as a historical monument in 1965, the succession of owners participates in its past rich in history and its world fame.
Be careful, remember to book your visit in advance: these areas are very popular.

Then, direction theAbbey of La Sauve-Majeure. Classified as a historical monument since 1840, it is a jewel of Romanesque architecture and culture. The abbey which dates from the eleventh century presents a rich cultural heritage including sculptures and many vestiges.

Saint Emilion

Day 7: Saint-Emilion, Bergerac

For this last day of road trip from Bordeaux,direction Saint Emilion. Located about forty kilometers from Bordeaux, this small medieval village is located in the heart of the first vineyard classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can visit the vineyards and taste the famous wine produced there. But take advantage of it especially to walk through the old cobbled streets admiring the old monuments. Stop to admire the Tower of the King, the monolithic church, the collegiate church, the cloister of the cordeliers, the convent of the Ursulines or the cardinal palace ... You can also visit the catacombs!

If you still have time before returning your van to our Bordeaux agency, make a stop in Bergerac to visit the wine museum and the tobacco museum. Continue in the old town with the half-timbered houses, the flowered alleys but also the Marqueyssac, Eyrignac, Limeuil gardens...
