Day 1: Bern

For this first day of road trip in Switzerland,head to Bern, capital of Switzerland. Start by visiting Bern and its old town still influenced by medieval architecture. Between the cobbled streets, historic buildings and fountains, you can admire the city's heritage. For panoramic views, climb the steps of St. Vincent's Cathedral. Built in 1421, it is a must-see in the city. Then go to the Federal Palace (Bundeshaus) where the government sits. Finally, end your day at the Rose Garden, one of Bern's most beautiful parks. From there you will have a beautiful view of the old town and the river surrounding the city.
Other places to visit in Bern:
- The Bern History Museum: discover the history and civilization of the region. Located in a former castle, the museum is one of the most important museums in Switzerland.
- The Einstein Museum, which chronicles the life and presents the works of the famous physicist
- Gurten Hill, where you will have a splendid view of Bern and the surrounding area. A true paradise for sledging in winter and summer with summer sledging!

Day 2: Lake Thun, Interlaken and Iseltwald

Continue to visit Switzerland by van with Interlaken: a must-see destination for any road trip in Switzerland! In summer, for the many lakes and hikes, and in winter to ski.
Start with Lake Thun for a morning walk and admire the scenery. Discover the lake by boat, he can take you to visit caves nearby.
Then head to Interlaken, a popular holiday destination! It is an ideal starting point for hiking between mountain and valley...
End the day by Lake Brienz with the village of Iseltwald. A small fishing village, you can eat freshly caught fish with views of the lake and mountains. It is also the starting point for a hike to the Giessbach Falls. This is the opportunity to witness the impressive spectacle of the 14 waterfalls flowing into the turquoise water of the lake.

Day 3: Trammelbachfelle and Chillon Castle

To finish this road trip in Switzerland in a beautiful van: towards The City. These are the largest underground waterfalls in Europe. They are located in the Valley of Lauterbrunnen, also known as the valley of 72 waterfalls. You can admire this waterfall from the jungfrau glaciers on the various installations of the site: galleries, tunnels, platforms... Before you go, check the weather: falls are often open from early April to early November.

Then finish this road trip in Switzerland with a visit to Chillon Castle. Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, you can feel like it's floating on the water. Medieval jewel, it will make you want to discover it as well as the story behind it. During your visit, you will find throughout the route various collectibles found during archaeological excavations. You can also admire the various temporary collections. At the end of your visit, take a break from the Byron Café.

Geneva

Day 1: Geneva and Lausanne

First day of road trip in Switzerland by van: start by visiting Geneva.
Discover a selection of must-sees in Geneva:
- The Old Town and St. Peter's Cathedral. You can climb to the top of the cathedral to enjoy panoramic views of the city.
- The Palace of Nations: one of the emblems of the city, the largest center of the UNITED Nations in Europe. (https://www.geneve.com/fr/attractions/visite-guidee-palais-des-nations)
- The water jet: Geneva's most famous attraction! From the top of his 140m, you'll be impressed by the power. Originally, this jet of water was to relieve the hydraulic pressure that fed the machinery of industry.

Then take the road to Lausanne. Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, you can stroll along the water to admire the surrounding landscapes. Continue to visit Lausanne walking through the old town and walking the small alleys. There are small restaurants where you can have lunch. Then stop at Lausanne Cathedral: a symbol of Gothic architecture. Known as the Olympic capital a few years ago, end the day at the Olympic Museum. You will be immersed in the atmosphere and history of the sport through the permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Gruyères

Day 2: Gruyères, Freiburg

For this second day of road trip in Switzerland,discover Gruyère, famous for cheese with the same name! A medieval city that is not to be missed in Switzerland, let yourself be surprised by the cultural and gastronomic side.
Visit Gruyères Castle, dating back to the 13th century. In height, it is easily spotted!
After a visit to the castle, make a stop at the Maison du Gruyère to taste the famous Gruyère AOP. You can watch the cheese being made, have a tasting and buy some for the rest of your road trip!

Fribourg

Continue to visit Switzerland by van with Freiburg. Places to see are:
- The old town, the medieval atmosphere and the half-timbered houses
- Museums, if you are interested: the Carnival Museum, the Archaeological Museum, the Natural History Museum or the Museum of Modern Art...
- The funicular to connect the Lower Town and the centre of Freiburg.
- St. Nicholas Cathedral, on the roof you will have a panoramic view of the city!

Berne

Lucerne

Day 5: Lucerne and Lake of the Four Townships

For this fifth day, continue to visit Switzerland by van, heading to Lucerne.
Lucerne points of interest where you can stop:
- The Lucerne Bridge: covered wooden bridge, it is atypical and represents a true symbol of the city.
- The bridge of the Ivraie, another wooden bridge, less popular with tourists but just as charming
- The historic centre with old buildings and painted facades. Stroll through the small alleys to discover the charm of the city.
- The city's fortifications for a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

In the afternoon, relax at Lake Four Townships. This is an opportunity to take a boat trip, or to swim. You can admire the surrounding mountains and in particular prepare for the next day's hike: the ascent of Mount Pilatus or Mount Pilate. You won't have a hard time finding a nice spot to spend the night!

Mont Pilatus

Day 6: Mount Pilatus

For this penultimate day of road trip in Switzerland,we suggest you go and get some fresh air. On the day's programme: hiking and climbing Mount Pilatus or Mount Pilate.
From Lucerne and from the lake, you could see this summit. From the top of its 2118m, you are now invited to go hiking to explore this mountain. There are many ways to get to the top and the exceptional view.
You can use the lifts from Alpnachstad, or for the bravest: on foot. You can take a tour of the panoramic platforms from marked paths to admire: Esel, Oberhaupt or Tomlinshorn. For families and history buffs: take the dragon trail to discover the myth of the mountain. Discover the different hikes at Mount Pilatus / Mount Pilate.


Tr-mmelbachfelle
