2 days road-trip between Saint Malo and the Mont-Saint-Michel

Day  1: Saint-Malo

Leave the agency with your camper van to go and visit the city centre of Saint Malo. Enjoy your stroll inside the old town that was fortified by Vauban, have a drink in a little café or visit the shops. Climb on the fortifications that go all around the city and admire the view on the Cap-Fréhel, Dinard and Cézembre Island.
Leave the city, stroll along the Digue du Sillon and stop for a cheeky crepe at the Hotel des Ambassadeurs that is right on the embankment. If you can, have a drink on the rooftop, which offers a spectacular view and is truly a magical place.
In the afternoon, get back into your camper van and follow the coastline towards Rothéneuf – where you will admire sculpted rocks – and the Pointe du Grouin, all the way to Cancale. And when we say Cancale, you have to think… oysters! Buy a hamper from one of the numerous local producers, and enjoy them on the campsite you have set around your camper van. If the weather allows it, you might be able to see the Mont-Saint-Michel far away in the bay. Once your Cancale stroll is over, get back on the road with your camper van and head to Dol de Bretagne, a medieval town that is quite worth the hype. Learn how to drive a sand yacht on this famous European spot.

Be sure to book a guided hike around the bay to discover its quicksands and the biggest tides in Europe. And if you are more into kayaking or horselike riding, you will also be able to book guided hikes around the bay! Visiting the Mont and enjoying the activities around it should keep you occupied all day.

Here comes the end of your road trip weekend… which means you have to head back to Saint Malo in order to drop the van back at the agency. Don’t forget to fill the tank up and to clean it up (inside and out, after all it was clean when you picked it up 😉 ). To make it easier for you, there is a carwash just 100 meters from the station. The return of the keys and final inventory will take place in a joyful and relaxed atmosphere.

A week long road trip in Northern Brittany

When you are planning a road-trip, one of the best things to do is either to go fill circle, or to start by the farthest point and then come back to where you started. For this one-week long road trip from Saint Malo, we advise you to drive to Crozon, at the end of Finistere, and then come back.

Jour 1 : The islands and nautical activities

Faites des activites nautiques en Bretagne pendant votre road-trip

Drive all the way to Crozon (approximately a 3-hour drive). Visit the peninsula: you can look for the Île Vierge beach and its turquoise water, eat an ice-cream on Morgan harbor or in Camaret. If you fancy surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing, you will be served right with the spots of Lostmarc’h, Goulien and La Palue.

In the beginning of the evening, check our Blacksheep Van app on your phone in the section « Where to sleep tonight », you will be able to find all the places around you where you can park your camper van. Wild camping is tolerated in the peninsula out of season. In season, prefer camping grounds or specified areas. Spend the night under the breton sky, and sleep under the stars in the comfort of your Blacksheep Van.

Jour 2 : Discover the islands of Ouessant

Wake up with your feet in the sand, before heading to Le Conquet. From there, take a boat to go explore the islands of Ouessant or Molène.

For your second evening, check on the app the numerous possibilities along the coast between Le Conquet and Ploudalmézeau

Day 3 : surfer friends, enjoy !

Follow the « route des abers » between Ploudalmézeau and Brignogan, and then the coast from Plouescat to Roscoff. For the kitesurfers out there, if the wind is on, go pump your kites in Keremma, a secured bay with flat waters. Get back into your camper van and drive to the « Baie des Amiets » in Cléder. For the surf addicts, you can try the Dossen spot.
For your third night, you will find a few possibilities around Santec, but we have to say that the camping ground on the Amiet beach has our heart.

Jour 4 : Enjoy the scenery

Follow the coastline between Roscoff and Perros-Guirec all the way through Carantec, Locquirec and Plestin-les-Grèves. Stroll around « l’île Grande » and along the « Côte de Granit Rose » in Trégastel. Spend the evening and admire the sunset in Perros-Guirec.

For the night, we advise you to park on the « Tête de mort » carpark in Trégastel!

Jour 5 : Explore the island of Bréhat

Get back on the road and head to the Arcouest pier and get on board to Bréhat Island. The island is worth at least an entire day of exploration to fully enjoy its insular weather and its beautiful gardens.
Spend the night on one of the carparks along the road overlooking Plouha cliffs.

Jour 6 : Walk and ride on the seaside

After you have woken up by the seaside in the comfort of your Blacksheep Van, it is time to head to the « Cap Fréhel ». Take a stroll in the heath between the « Cap Fréhel » and the « Lallate » Fort. The programme can include a dip in the sea, surfing on one of the numerous beaches, bike riding… Whatever you want 😉
For your last night, keep your road-trip going until Saint-Jacut de la Mer. Set you camp on the Pointe Chevret carpark, and fully enjoy your last night in your beautiful camper van 😉

Jour 7 – The last day, but not the least

Turn the engine of your camper van on, and head to Lancieux, Saint-Briac, Saint-Lunaire, Dinard and then Saint-Malo Intramuros. Enjoy a stroll inside the old town that was fortified by Vauban, have a drink in a little café or visit the shops.
