We are long-time friends, we met almost in school before starting a professional career of several years in tourism, both attracted by nature and sporting challenges.
We had the idea to start Blacksheep after telling our friends numerous times how we found the perfect snowboarding spot with fresh snow by traveling in a van in the Alps, based on the day's weather forecasts! Our friends wanted to do the same, to escape without constraints, for sports or simply to disconnect with family, but many wondered how to do it.
The idea started to take shape in our minds, then after a summer of renovating (Edouard) an old VW Combi alone, a road trip where Sylvain went to Australia, and a winter without a gram of snow, we decided to take the plunge and we opened our first van rental agency in 2011. Since then, the adventure continues with its challenges and successes, with a team that has grown over time with the same passion for the outdoors and autonomy!
Established from the beginning in the suburbs of Lyon, Blacksheep now has over 50 agencies located in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, and Portugal. With a fleet of over 500 vans in perfect condition or new, its range is suitable for all types of adventurers: families, couples, friends, solo travelers, with the possibility of specific equipment to enjoy nature in summer and winter: bike rack, snow tires, stationary heating, portable BBQ...
Blacksheep quickly positioned itself as a true creator of adventures accessible to all through its extensive territorial network, but it also established itself as a reference for professional sellers of used vans with an offer of over 200 models of perfectly converted vans and vans, available for sale throughout France.
Blacksheep, this sheep that is certainly not a follower, has established itself sustainably with a promise to break away from daily life to recharge in the heart of nature, with the desire to preserve its beauty and diversity for future generations. Blacksheep is a member of the 1% for the Planet collective and is committed to raising awareness among its community about responsible travel and nature conservation.
